What size should I order?

What size should I order?

When you order a piece of jewelry with me, the size you order is the size you'll receive - meaning, if you order a 12" necklace, the necklace will be 12" from end to end, including the clasp.

To determine the correct size for you or your child, you'll need a soft measuring tape, or a piece of string and a ruler. In a pinch, you can use a dollar bill as a makeshift ruler because it measures exactly 6 inches! Or you can find a printable measuring tape HERE! Read on to discover how to accurately measure the perfect size necklace, bracelet, or anklet.

SIZING FOR TEETHING NECKLACES

What size necklace is right for your child, and why is length so important? Baltic Amber jewelry works by being worn against the skin. Is NOT intended for children to chew on their Baltic amber and crystal jewelry. It is important to determine the correct size necklace to order for your child, as you must be sure your child cannot roll their necklace over their chin and into their mouth. If your child is past the putting-things-in-their-mouth phase, length becomes a matter of preference.

Using the soft measuring tape, measure your child to determine what length will be best. If you do not have a soft measuring tape, you can use a string, shoe lace or piece of dental floss and measure using a hard tape or ruler. The key is as loose as possible without your child being able to pass the necklace over his or her chin and put it into his or her mouth.

Keep in mind the stones themselves will add some "bulk" compared to the measuring tape. Most parents find taking the measurement of their child's neck and adding 1.5"-2" to determine what size to order. Once you have measured their neck, extend the tape 1.5"-2" and check that size to be sure you like that fit.

The most popular size necklace for very young children is 12", which fits most children for years with proper jewelry care & handling.

SIZING FOR TEETHING ANKLETS

Measure your child's ankle size exactly, then add 1/2" to 1". This will ensure a comfortable fit, but not so big that it will roll off of baby's foot. Keep in mind that the stones add some "bulk" compared to the measuring tape; the additional length will account for that. If they are between sizes, I recommend going up a half-inch. I offer teething anklets in half-inch increments. I am unable to customize size smaller than by half inch increments.
For stretchy bracelets, I recommend measuring your wrist and adding 1/2" to 3/4" to determine which size to order.

CLASPING BRACELETS & ANKLETS

When choosing your clasping bracelet or anklet size, measure your wrist or ankle size exactly, and then add one inch. Keep in mind that the stones add some "bulk" compared to the measuring tape; the additional length will account for that. If you're between sizes, I recommend going up a half-inch. I make bracelets & anklets in half-inch increments. I am unable to customize size smaller half inch increments.
